The sensitive plant

12Sep08

Today older son and I went on one of our favorite hikes, in a really nice park with a really nice botanical garden.  For the middle of a day on a dreary Friday, the park was rather bustling.  As we came around one corner, we saw another family with a little girl, probably three years old, kneeling very close to a fern-like plant.

The mother said, “you might want to see this, watch what this plant does.”

No kidding!  Have you ever seen a sensitive plant?  It’s amazing.  If you touch its leaf, the little fern-like tendrils curl in.

We have done the same walk twenty times and never saw that plant before.  It was amazing and wonderful, and I am so glad that mother told us about it.
